Lead-singer and front-man Andrew Eldritch is regarded as a major influence on the eighties gothic rock wave with his black hair, bass-baritone vocal style and pale and thin look. In 1980 he formed the Sisters Of Mercy who released three successful albums in the eighties, in 1986 he formed Sisterhood as a side project (one album “The Gift”) and in the same year The Mission who debuted with the album “God’s Own Medicine”. With producer John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin/ Them Crooked Vultures bassist) on their second album “Children” The Mission moved musically a bit to ZEP-style hard rock. From 1986 to 2016 The Mission released 11 studio albums and 20+ singles/12”/E.P.’s. The last part of this 3 CD digipack is filled with extended and special mixes of the pioneers of gothic.
