Sorry For Laughing ist ein Projekt von Gordon H. Whitlow, der auch Mitglied des legendären US-Avantgarde-Kollektivs Biota, ehemals Mnemonists oder Mnemonist Orchestra, ist. Ihre Musik ist eine Mischung aus moderner Klassik, experimentellen Klängen, Noise, Industrial, Avangarde, Songwriting und Free Jazz. Ihre Veröffentlichungen wurden zwischen 1981 und 1986 von ihrem eigenen, selbst produzierten Label Dys veröffentlicht. Bis 1985 hatte sich die Gruppe in separate Gruppen für visuelle und audiovisuelle Arbeiten aufgeteilt. Von diesem Zeitpunkt an fungierten Mnemonists nur noch als Kollektiv für bildende Künste, während die musikalische Aktivität von einer neuen Gruppe namens Biota übernommen wurde, in der einige der Musiker von Mnemonists sowie viele neue Mitglieder vertreten waren. 1986 veröffentlichte Gordon H. Whitlow eine Kassette unter dem Namen Sorry For Laughing: „Die Kompositionen stammen aus meinen Anfangstagen mit dem Avantgarde-Aufnahmeensemble Biota, kurz nach Fertigstellung der Bellowing Room LP.“ Das Album wurde 2018 von der Klanggalerie auf CD neu aufgelegt und ist weiterhin erhältlich. Kürzlich hat Gordon das Projekt reaktiviert und es von einem Soloprojekt in eine neue Supergroup umgewandelt: Sie besteht nun aus ihm selbst, Edward Ka-Spel von den Legendary Pink Dots und Martyn Bates von Eyeless In Gaza. Außerdem tragen die Denver-Gitarristin Janet Feder, Patrick Q.Wright von den Dots und Tom Katsimpalis von Biota bei. Gemeinsam haben diese Musiker ein außergewöhnliches Album zarter Musik geschaffen, in dem atemberaubend schöne Vocals um Ambient-Klanglandschaften und minimalistische klassische Musik schweben.
