Mit seinen preisgekrönten Aufnahmen von Kammermusik von Gra?yna Bacewicz erlangte das Schlesische Quartett internationale Aufmerksamkeit. Sein neuestes Projekt – die kompletten Quartette von Penderecki – wurde 2012 begonnen, aber erst im Januar 2021 abgeschlossen. Die chronologisch präsentierten Werke auf dem Album nehmen uns mit auf eine Reise von Pendereckis frühem avantgardistischen „sonoristischen“ Stil der 1960er Jahre – dem erstes und zweites Quartett – zum späteren neoromantischen Stil des dritten und vierten Quartetts, komponiert 2008 bzw. 2016. Von allen Werken Pendereckis weist das Quartett für Klarinette und Streichtrio die stärkste Verbindung zur Kammermusik des 19. Jahrhunderts auf. Penderecki wurde zu dem Stück durch die Aufnahme von Schuberts Streichquintett in C-Dur D 956 durch das Emerson String Quartet und Mstislav Rostropovich aus dem Jahr 1992 inspiriert. Hier wird das Schlesische Quartett durch den Klarinettisten Piotr Szymy?lik unterstützt.
