Von den Machern von Outnumbered und What We Did on Our Holiday kommt diese unterhaltsame Sitcom-Serie Kate und Koji mit der Golden-Globe-Gewinnerin Brenda Blethyn (Vera, Secrets & Lies) und Jimmy Akingbola (In the Long Run).
Kate (Brenda Blethyn) betreibt ein kleines Café in einer vernachlässigten Küstenstadt. Einst ein florierendes Unternehmen, steht das Café nun kurz vor dem Untergang. Kate entwickelt eine starke, wenn auch manchmal unbeständige Freundschaft mit dem hochgebildeten afrikanischen Arzt Koji (Jimmy Akingbola Holby City), der Asyl sucht. Nachdem er ihn gefragt hat, warum er kein Geld ausgibt, verrät er, dass er nicht arbeitet; Obwohl er Arzt ist, ist er auch ein Asylbewerber. Nachdem sich die Nachricht herumgesprochen hat, wird Koji der inoffizielle Allgemeinmediziner und führt im Café eine „Operation“ durch, was Kate Kunden einbringt, die ihm kostenloses Essen anbietet, um das Programm am Laufen zu halten.
