Der Tenorsaxophonist Stephen Riley hatte als angehender Jazzstudent am William Paterson College in New Jersey eine kurze, aber bedeutsame Begegnung mit dem Gitarristen Vic Juris, der damals dort Ensemblespielunterricht gab. Seitdem sind ein paar Jahrzehnte vergangen und hier auf diesem Album hat Riley seinen ehemaligen Lehrer gebeten, sich ihm anzuschließen. Leider stellte sich heraus, dass es Juris' letzte Aufnahme überhaupt war. Einige Wochen nach der Sitzung erlag er seinem Krebsleiden, obwohl er zu diesem Zeitpunkt keine Anzeichen eines körperlichen und geistigen Verfalls zeigte.
