Limitierte 180g-Vinyl-LP-Pressung. Soulgramma präsentieren eine Neuauflage von Carol Woods‘ Out Of The Woods, das ursprünglich 1971 veröffentlicht wurde. Carol Woods wurde 1943 in Jamaika, New York, geboren. Sie wurde stark von ihrem Großvater, einem Pfingstpfarrer, und ihrer Mutter Marion Jones beeinflusst, die sie leitete Leadsänger im örtlichen Kirchenchor zu werden. Ein notwendiges, gefühlvolles Album, das schon lange vergriffen ist. Out Of The Woods wurde in London aufgenommen und 1971 auf Ember (britisches Label, das Anfang der 1960er Jahre vom Clubbesitzer und Promoter Jeffrey S. Kruger, Besitzer des Flamingo Clubs in London) gegründet wurde, veröffentlicht und ist immer noch ein glänzendes Juwel für sich. Die vier Titel ihrer Singles wurden aufgenommen und die Backing-Tracks der Rhythmusgruppe für den Rest wurden von Beau Ray Fleming (bekannt für seine Studioarbeit mit Mandrill) in New York eingespielt. Embers Produzent Mike Berry fügte dann Carols Gesang und die Bläsersektion hinzu. Woods‘ Gesang ist voll und reichhaltig und die Platte hat eine Art Post-Supremes-Vibe mit einem offensichtlichen Siebziger-Ansatz. Seitdem hat Carol Erfolg in Bühnenmusicals wie One Mo Time, wo sie die Rolle von Big Bertha Williams, dem trinkfesten Varieté-Star, übernahm. Sie trat auch in Filmen auf, darunter Eddie Murphy Raw (1987), in dem sie Eddies Tante spielte.
