Mit diesen Konzerten begibt sich das Gewandhausorchester Leipzig im Gedenken an seinen ehemaligen Dirigenten Václav Neumann auf eine musikalische Reise nach Tschechien. Dort wurde Jan Václav Voríšek im Todesjahr Mozarts 1791 geboren und im gleichen Alter wie Mozart, nur 34 Jahre alt, durch Lungentuberkulose davongetragen. Das Manuskript seiner D-Dur-Symphonie teilt das Schicksal der Sinfonien seines Freundes und Weggefährten Franz Schubert und wurde zu seinen Lebzeiten weder gedruckt noch aufgeführt. Mittlerweile ist es jedoch sein meistgespieltes Werk geworden! Ein kurzes, spätes und selten glückliches Kapitel der bewegenden Biografie von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart spielt in der Hauptstadt der Tschechischen Republik. Als er im Januar 1787 in Prag ankam, war er ziemlich erstaunt: Dass seine Musik auf so große Begeisterung stieß, war für Mozart keineswegs selbstverständlich. Rückblickend wird er seine Erfolge in Prag als die schönsten Momente seines Lebens bezeichnen. Die D-Dur-Symphonie KV 504 wurde in Prag uraufgeführt und eröffnet die Gruppe der letzten vier Sinfonien Mozarts. Live aufgenommen im Gewandhaus zu Leipzig, September 2020
