„Handful Of Rain“ war das erste Album nach Criss Olivas Tod. „Keiner von uns wusste damals, ob das, was wir taten, richtig war oder ob wir einfach hätten aufhören sollen“, sagt Jon Oliva. „Uns wurde viermal so viel Geld für die Live-Hommage angeboten wie für ‚Handful of Rain‘, aber wir wollten ‚Alone You Breathe‘ machen. Paul und ich mussten diesen Song veröffentlichen, um Criss willen.“ . So seltsam es auch klingen mag, das war für uns das Wichtigste.“ Das Album enthält auch den Song „Chance“, der der erste Savatage-Song war, der den Einsatz von Kontrapunktgesang enthielt, ein Stil, den sie auch auf den folgenden Alben verwendeten.

Fast drei Jahrzehnte nach seiner ursprünglichen Veröffentlichung ist „Handful Of Rain“ wieder auf feinstem Vinyl erhältlich. Neuauflage als 180g Black LP Gatefold Edition, zusammen mit einer Limited Collector's Edition auf transparentem blauem Vinyl. Beide Editionen wurden für Vinyl gemastert und mit dem Original-Cover-Design und speziell verbessertem Artwork neu aufgelegt, einschließlich eines 12-seitigen LP-Booklets mit ausführlichen Linernotes von Clay Marshall. Exklusiv in der Limited LP Collector's Edition gibt es eine Deluxe-LP-Slipmat mit dem Cover des Albums.
