Ein Alter Ego (zweites oder anderes Selbst) ist sowohl ein enger Begleiter des Individuums als auch eine zusätzliche Persönlichkeit. David Orlowsky und David Bergmüller sind Weggefährten, doch unterschiedlicher könnten sie kaum sein. Sie stammen aus unterschiedlichen Musiktraditionen und die Kombination dieser beiden Instrumente weist keine historischen Bezüge auf. Als David Orlowsky zum ersten Mal ein Video von David Bergmüller im Internet entdeckte, war ihm nicht bewusst, dass er auf sein musikalisches Alter Ego gestoßen war. Die beiden trafen sich in Berlin und einigten sich bereits nach wenigen gemeinsamen Notizen darauf, gemeinsam Musik zu machen. Sie wurden zu Gefährten, aus denen dann ein Duo wurde, das schließlich zu einem Organismus wurde. Innerhalb dieses Organismus fungieren David und David als gegensätzliche und komplementäre Persönlichkeiten. Gemeinsam begeben sie sich auf eine Reise in unerforschte Klangwelten. Die Klarinette ist die Stimme vergangener Zeiten, während sich die Laute zu polyrhythmischen Strukturen zusammenfügt, die neue und alte Zeiten in ihren Originalkompositionen zusammenfließen lassen.
