Steve Cradock offenbart eine andere Seite seiner musikalischen Talente mit einer Instrumental-LP, die sich auf Jazz-, Folk-, Klassik- und Filmsoundtrack-Einflüsse stützt. „A Sound track to An Imaginary Movie“ wurde während der „außergewöhnlichsten“ Monate des Lockdowns konzipiert und entstand an einem Nachmittag im Sommer 2020, als Cradock eine Inspiration verspürte. Die Musik, die in den folgenden Sessions erklang, erinnerte Steve an einen imaginären Filmsoundtrack – daher der Albumtitel –, wobei viele der Songs eine ruhige, hymnische Anmut und ein tiefes Gefühl von Stille und innerem Frieden ausstrahlten. Anklänge an Eric Satie, Burt Bacharach, Ennio Morricone und Philip Glass sind zu erkennen – gepaart mit einer pikanten Note der Jazz- und Klassikgrößen. Steve wird von Gästen begleitet, darunter seine Frau Sally, Jess Cox (Cello), Rob Newton (Congas) von der Stone Foundation, Sohn Cassius Cradock (Klavier) sowie andere Mitglieder der Tourband The Specials Nikolaj Larson (Hammond B-3). und Tim Smart (Posaune).
