In „Midnight Cowboy“ spielen Dustin Hoffman und Jon Voight die Hauptrollen. Ersterer spielt den schmierigen Betrüger, der sich mit einem Landbewohner anfreundet, der zum ersten Mal nach New York reist. Der besagte Landbewohner wird von Jon Voight gespielt, und er und Hoffman sind auf der Leinwand absolut magnetisch. Die Leistungen sind ziemlich brillant und gelten zu Recht als die besten ihrer jeweiligen Karriere.
Darüber hinaus ist der Beitrag des verstorbenen John Schlesinger nicht zu unterschätzen. Schlesinger hat im Laufe seiner Karriere einige gute Filme gedreht, aber keiner war so gut wie dieser. Seine Herangehensweise ist sehr zeitgemäß, dennoch dient er dem Film weiterhin hervorragend und fängt die Stadt New York auf ganz eindeutige Weise ein.
Dies wird natürlich durch das Upgrade auf 1080p noch verstärkt, das die Majestät von Midnight Cowboy zumindest zu Hause wohl auf die bestmögliche Weise präsentiert. Es ist ein willkommener, knackiger Transfer und eine wunderbare Möglichkeit, ein echtes filmisches Meisterwerk zu genießen und zu schätzen. – Jon Foster
