Drei Jahre nach seinem tragischen Tod wurde er 1764 von einem eifersüchtigen Neffen ermordet. Charles Henry de Blainville erinnerte sich an ihn als den Corelli von Frankreich. Im Jahr 1754 stellte Friedrich Wilhelm Marpurg Leclair hinsichtlich Harmonie und Kontrapunkt auf eine Stufe mit Telemann, Händel und Mitgliedern der Familie Bach; Für Francesco Galeazzi im Jahr 1790 war er neben großen Namen wie Corelli und Vivaldi der einzige Franzose auf der Liste der bedeutendsten Geigenmeister im Europa des 18. Jahrhunderts. Seine Violinkonzerte, Op. 7 werden hier vom brillanten Geiger Luis Otavio Santos (Gewinner eines Diapason d'Or für sein bei Rame veröffentlichtes Album mit Leclair-Sonaten) und Les Muffatti unter der Leitung von Peter Van Heyghen präsentiert.

Amazing customer service!
