„Mad Not Mad“ ist das sechste Studioalbum von Madness. Ursprünglich im September 1985 veröffentlicht, stellte es eine Abkehr von der ursprünglichen Besetzung der Band dar, da Keyboarder Mike Barson nach einer erstaunlich erfolgreichen Serie von fünf Hitalben in ebenso vielen Jahren eine Pause von der Gruppe einlegte. Stilistisch präsentierte „Mad Not Mad“ eine ausgefeiltere Seite von Madness und enthielt einige ihrer anspruchsvollsten und politischsten Songtexte. Die erste Single, „Yesterday's Men“, zeigt die Band in einer entspannten, nachdenklichen Stimmung und beschäftigt sich mit den enteigneten Charakteren in und um Camden Town. „Sweetest Girl“ ist ein Cover des legendären Scritti Politti-Tracks, während „Uncle Sam“ ein Cover des legendären Titels von Scritti Politti ist Ein klassischer Wahnsinnsspaß, der durch die Erzählung der Erfahrungen eines Soldaten während des Zweiten Weltkriegs erzählt wird.
