Einst von der einflussreichen internationalen Zeitung USA Today als „der größte Rockstar, von dem Sie noch nie gehört haben“ beschrieben und oft als „der französische Elvis“ bezeichnet, war Johnny Hallyday fast sechzig Jahre lang, von 1960 bis zu seinem Tod, ein Megastar in Frankreich Er verstarb 2017 an Krebs. Berühmtheit erlangte er ursprünglich als Rock'n'Roll-Sänger, oft mit französischsprachigen Coverversionen amerikanischer und/oder britischer Hitplatten. Sein fotogenes, an James Dean erinnerndes Aussehen sicherte ihm die Titelseiten nahezu aller französischen Zeitschriften, während seine kraftvollen, charismatischen Live-Auftritte sowohl auf der Bühne als auch im Fernsehen ihn zu einer Ikone machten. Diese Zusammenstellung präsentiert das Allerbeste seiner frühen R&R-Jahre, wobei Hallyday sowohl auf Französisch als auch auf Englisch sang, wobei die letzteren Seiten 1962 in Nashville aufgenommen wurden. Alle 32 dieser Seiten waren bedeutende Hits in Frankreich, ein halbes Dutzend übertraf die französischen Diagramme; sein „Viens Danser Le Twist“ (ein Cover von „Let’s Twist Again“ von Chubby Checker) war eine der ersten Pop-Platten, die allein in Frankreich eine Million Mal verkauft wurde.

Amazing customer service!
