Es liegt eine Kälte in der Luft mit dem gruseligen Survival-Horror Cryostasis.
Die Handlung findet 1968 am Polarkreis statt und die Spieler schlüpfen in die Rolle von Alexander Nesterow, einem russischen Meteorologen, der die letzten Stunden des Nordwinds untersuchen soll, eines alten nuklearen Eisbrechers, der in einem eisigen Grab Schiffbruch erlitten hat.
Die eisige Kälte hat die Schiffsbewohner in unheimliche gefrorene Monster verwandelt, die alles Warme jagen und zerstören. Zum Glück verfügt Alex über die einzigartige Fähigkeit „Mentales Echo“, die es ihm ermöglicht, die letzten Erinnerungen der Toten noch einmal zu erleben und ihre Handlungen in der Vergangenheit zu ändern.
Aber kann Alex herausfinden, was auf dem Nordwind passiert ist, oder wird er auch das jüngste Opfer der schrecklichen Kälte werden?
