Collection of the three 'Honey, I...' films starring Rick Moranis as eccentric inventor Wayne Szalinski. In 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' (1989), Szalinski's latest project is his attempt to develop a machine that will shrink things, but so far it only explodes things. When his kids knock a baseball through his laboratory window, the ball activates the machine, so that when they go to retrieve the ball they are shrunk to a quarter of an inch high. Wayne sees the mess but not his kids, and he inadvertently sweeps them into the dustbin... In 'Honey, I Blew Up the Kid' (1992), Szalinski has invented and built a machine that will enlarge objects rather than shrink objects (or children). While in the process of demonstrating his invention, his two-year-old son gets in the way and is accidentally enlarged. He continues to grow until he is over 100 foot high. A comic tale of what happens when the tables are turned and people and buildings become playthings for a giant toddler. In 'Honey We Shrunk Ourselves' (1996), Szalinski succeeds in shrinking himself, his brother and their wives when yet another experiment goes wrong. They must try to make their way downstairs to attract the attention of their children, braving hazards such as a float in a soap bubble and a crash landing in a bowl of dip along the way.  A deft balance between special effects, comedy, and family dynamics made Honey I Shrunk the Kids a hit for Disney and spawned both a string of video sequels and a subsequent TV series. Moranis is endearing as the bumbling inventor/father of the Szalinski family. He inadvertently shrinks his own children then throws them out with the trash. They, along with the neighbour's kids, must journey back across their own backyard, now an enormous, dangerous distance, to get back to the right height. Much is done with the perils of the lawn, from a wild deluge from the sprinklers to a nasty encounter with the lawnmower and numerous encounters with gigantic insects. A generally kid-friendly, inventive (no pun intended), and entertaining outing. -- Keith Simanton Synopsis In the classic 1989 family adventure Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, eccentric inventor Wayne Szalinski (Rick Moranis) accidentally shrinks his children to 1/4 inch tall and tosses them out with the rubbish. They face incredible dangers as they try to get home through a backyard jungle. Moranis returns in the sequels that turned the comedy-adventure into a franchise, complete with television series and Disney World movie-set playground and 3D show. Honey, I Blew Up The Kid (1992) sees Szalinski accidentally turn his toddler into a looming giant. In the 1997 follow-up, Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, the absent-minded scientist gets a taste of his own medicine as he miniaturises himself, his brother, and his wife.
