Heavy rock music that combines NEIL YOUNG riffage with post-SABBATH sludge. Their cavernous sound has evolved over three albums, beginning with their live-in-the-studio debut Homestead, released on SRA Records in 2009. On Homestead, the band displayed it's dual proficiency in pummeling heft and subtle introspection through seven expansive tracks clocking in at a whopping 51 minutes. Their 2010 follow-up, Johnny, exhibits the group tightening it's focus and increasing experimentation while remaining true to the mission. 2011's self-titled Dangerbird III marks the group's heaviest effort to date: The Russian cosmonaut and Mayan temple that adorn the album's packaging are telling portents of the riffs they accompany. In between, DANGERBIRD found time to release a split 7" with Philadelphia cohorts UGH GOD in 2010 and the Acoustic EP the following year. They also contributed to SRA Records' Four-Way Split CD by collaborating on five tracks with Jim McMonagle of the legendary Philly punk rock band FLAG OF DEMOCRACY. Dangerbird is built around core members Bruce Howze (HULK SMASH), Joe Bats (PSYCHIC TEENS, WHAT HAPPENED?), Colin Smith (SERPENT THRONE, SLOW MOVER), Mouse Dascher (FIFTY DAYS AT ILIUM), Jeff Bowne (GUNNA VAHM), and Jason Bucci (ALISON RANGER, CIRCLE THE CITY). They have toured the United States extensively in a van fueled by vegetable oil.
