Was sie als Frankie Rose And The Outs mit ihrem gleichnamigen 2010er-Album bereits angekündigt hatte, bestätigt die Songwriterin und Sängerin aus Brooklyn auf ihrem zweiten Album - allerdings anders als gedacht. Waren es zuvor noch ganz mühelos dahingeworfene Girl-Group-Mantras (eingefasst von Phil-Spector-artigen Hallwänden), so betritt die Garage-Rock-gestählte Musikerin (ehemals Vivian Girls, Dum Dum Girls, Crystal Stilts) nun den interstellaren Raum. Das Spiel mit dem Hall ist geblieben, allerdings trägt der sie jetzt in andere Sphären. Hin zu mehr Pop-Grandeur, zu mehr Glam und Glitter. "Ich hatte immer das große Bild im Kopf", so die Sängerin, "und wollte immer einen gewaltigen und unverzerrten Sound". Und tatsächlich schweigen die Verzerrer auf "Interstellar", es entstand ein windschnittiges, geräumiges Album, das manchmal seine Referenzen in die 80er-Jahre schickt, ohne jedoch jemals retro zu wirken.
