Featuring music by Labrinth, Emeli Sand And Example and co-written and starring Noel Clark (Adulthood, Kidulthood), Fast Girls is an inspiring, emotionally-charged sports drama that’s solid gold. “The most inspiring film of the year” - Stylist “Fast Girls will leave you laughing, crying, and bursting with British pride” - More “If you liked to Bend it Like Beckham, you'll love this!”
Company Magazine Twenty-two-year-old sprinter Shania Edwards (Lenora Crichlow, Being Human) is from the wrong side of the tracks. She’s street-wise, tough, and determined to compete in the world athletic championships. After qualifying for the 200 meters her dreams become a reality.
The only thing standing in her way is rival Lisa Temple, a posh, competitive girl with thriving ambition. But when placed on the same relay team Shania and Lisa are forced to overcome their differences and face adversity in a quest to take team GB to sporting victory.
Bonus Features Behind the Scenes Interviews Trailer Whilst the film makes no reference to it, you don't have to look far to see the influence of the London 2012 Olympics all over Fast Girls. First released in cinemas a few months before the games, the movie tells the story of a group of female sprinters who come together in an attempt to run their way to relay gold.
At the heart of the group are the streetwise Shania, played by Being Human's Lenora Crichlow, and Lisa Temple, a rival who hasn't had to fight for what she is in quite the same way. It's a pretty conventional narrative that underpins it all, but this brisk, breezy British film is entertaining, well played, and enjoyable.
There are welcome appearances from Rupert Graves and co-writer Noel Clarke, too. Disc-wise, Fast Girls comes with a few interesting extra features. On top of the obligatory trailer, there's a look behind the scenes at the making of the film. Considering that it's a summer athletics film at heart, let's just say it was shot in a less-warm part of the year!
There are interviews, too, to round the package out. Fast Girls is a fun, lively sports movie, that doesn't outstay its welcome, and arrives on a disc that offers an interesting glimpse as to how it was brought to the screen. Conventional perhaps, it's strong cast and fast pace make the film a fun one. --Jon Foster

I've made a journey back to the vinyl records by buying a turntable and amplifier and decided to purchase the division bell on vinyl by pink Floyd as it's one of the best albums I've ever heard..
