SUPERB FESTIVAL BROADCAST FROM PAUL RODGERS WITH SLASH & OTHER FRIENDS • British-Canadian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Paul Rodgers, born 17 December 1949, remains among the finest vocalists to have emerged during the rock age. Fronting Free and Bad Company in the 1970s, and The Firm and The Law in the eighties and nineties, he became a solo artist as early as 1983, when he released his first solo-album Cut Loose - on which he played all the instruments. He has more recently toured and recorded with Queen. A poll in Rolling Stone magazine ranked him number 55 on its list of the "100 Greatest Singers of All Time". In 2011 Rodgers received the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. • Rodgers has been cited as a significant influence on a number of notable rock singers. In 1991, John Mellencamp called Rodgers "the best rock singer ever". Freddie Mercury in particular liked Rodgers and his aggressive style. • By 1994, Rodgers had released his second solo-set, a tribute to Muddy Waters, plus an E.P. for which he teamed up with Journey guitarist Neal Schon on The Hendrix Set, a live 5-track CD, recorded in 1993 with Rodgers' interpretations of Hendrix songs. • In August ’94 Rodgers, along with his recently formed Rock and Blues Revue - featuring Slash, Neil Schon, Andy Fraser and Jason Bonham - performed on the South Stage at Woodstock ’94, the 25th Anniversary of the pivotal 1969 festival. Playing a quite stunning set which included a slew of both Free and Bad Company numbers, plus a smattering of both Hendrix and Muddy Waters songs, the show for many fans was the highlight of the Sunday afternoon’s entertainment. • Broadcast live in both the USA and the UK, the full set the band played that glorious day is now available on this new CD for the first time. I've made a journey back to the vinyl records by buying a turntable and amplifier and decided to purchase the division bell on vinyl by pink Floyd as it's one of the best albums I've ever heard..
