Symphony No. 3
Initially dedicated to Napoleon, Symphony 3 received its first public performance on 7 April 1805, at the Theater an der Wien, Vienna. It is often credited with kick-starting the Romantic period in music and marked the beginning of the creative middle-period for its composer. From the epic crashing opening through to the strains of more familiar Beethoven, this is an historic and fascinating symphony that truly tore up the rule book.
