The very best animated films have stories that stand up to repeated viewings, over long periods of time. Already, Monsters Inc falls into that category, courtesy of excellent characters, lots of warm laughs, and brilliant execution. It's a treat of a movie, and one that has already stood up time and time again to repeated viewings. The film itself follows two of the best characters that the geniuses of Pixar have put on screen to date, Sulley and Mike. They're a team of scarers whose ability to generate screams from children helps generate more electrical power than any of their near rivals. It takes the introduction of a young girl named Boo to start turning things around. Bursting with interesting supporting characters, and visuals that burst off the screen, the decision to give Monsters Inc a 3D upgrade has also been fully vindicated. It's a film that lends itself to the format well, without the need for gimmickry, and it makes an already stunning Blu-ray transfer just that little bit more essential. The Blu-ray is also loaded with plenty of extras to explore, which round off a quality package, for a very strong and much loved film. Monsters Inc may not be Pixar's very best film. But it was and is something just that little bit special. And truthfully, who wouldn't want to give Sulley a big hug? --Jon Foster
