Arkham Horror: The Card Game is a cooperative game for one to two players (or up to four with two core sets). Set within the fictional world of H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos, players will each take on the role of an investigator with their own unique skills, strengths, and weaknesses represented by a deck of cards. The game is played by completing a number of adventures, which can be combined to form a campaign. As players progress through a campaign and purchase expansions, they can customize their investigator decks to better equip themselves against challenges.

The Investigator Starter Pack is a new supplementary product range that includes five unique packs. Each pack includes a pre-constructed 34-card deck that is ready to play out of the box, along with an additional 26 cards that can be used to upgrade the deck as the campaign progresses. The five packs each focus on a different character: Harvey Walters, Nathaniel Cho, Winifred Habbamock, Jacqueline Fine, and Stella Clark.

The Harvey Walters pack focuses on the Seeker character and leans toward solving mysteries and uncovering clues. The Nathaniel Cho pack focuses on the Guardian character and leans toward supporting the team and fighting monsters. The Winifred Habbamock pack focuses on the Rogue character and leans toward extra actions, making it adaptable to most situations. The Jacqueline Fine pack focuses on the Mystic character and leans toward spell casting. The Stella Clark pack focuses on the Survivor character and utilises stealth and evasion to resolve encounters.

While each pack includes a ready-to-play deck, a copy of the core set is required to play the game. Players can jump into a campaign with a pre-constructed deck and use the additional cards to upgrade it as they progress through the campaign.
