THE SONGS THEY DIDN’T WRITE • While AC/DC have historically filled their every album with original tunes created inside the band, more often than not from the pens of Angus and Malcolm Young, with Bon Scott or, later, Brian Johnson contributing lyrics, in a live setting the group have never been shy about pumping out the odd-rocking cover version. • This new CD contains 15 such recordings taken from live events featuring AC/DC when they were just so inspired to cover a song from another composer. And looking through the selection chosen it’s not hard to see just where the band members’ musical roots rested. With cuts from the likes of Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones, these boys, unsurprisingly, have been informed and influenced by the rock music that came before they existed as a group, which they have used subsequently as the catalyst for their own creations. • Taken from live FM radio broadcasts from all eras of AC/DC’s history, including way back when the all-but-forgotten Dave Evans fronted the group, through the years featuring both Bon Scott and Brian Johnson out front, the temptation to borrow from the past has always been present. • Also featuring one bonus cut of an AC/DC original in the form of a live rendition their first ever single from 1974, ‘Can I Sit Next To You Girl’, featuring the aforementioned Mr Evans on vocals, in what is almost certainly the best quality live recording from this era. 1. I've made a journey back to the vinyl records by buying a turntable and amplifier and decided to purchase the division bell on vinyl by pink Floyd as it's one of the best albums I've ever heard..
