'If Radiohead had a baby with Opeth, and that baby listening to a lot of Pink Floyd, it might sound like this impressive Leeds troupe. Dreamy and melodious one minute, anarchic, and gnarly the next. Jettisoned will keep you guessing in the most hypnotic way possible'. Classic Rock // Hotly-tipped Leeds quintet KOYO are set to release their debut album. Named after the Japanese word for colourful autumn leaves, KOYO is also the name of a new group fusing colourful influences to create music of their own. Formed in Leeds in 2015, KOYO have fast become a major factor in the city's burgeoning music scene. Tagged with the prog rock label, they are in fact proficient, reflective and utterly self-effacing, a far cry from the cape-wearing and wizard-hatted indulgence of your traditional progressive musicians. True, some of their songs are longer and they are well-schooled in music literally. But KOYO wear their versatility and charm very lightly indeed. Formed by 22 year old Huw Edwards and Jacob Price, KOYO are an accomplished five-piece. Blending influences as wide as Ozric Tentacles and The Velvet Underground, My Bloody Valentine and Kurt Vile, they give the impression of being able to play just about anything. KOYO combine beautiful melancholy vocals with intricate riffs and thought provoking lyrics. Sampling and synthesisers provide astral soundscapes, grounded by a gifted rhythm section. They are at once delicate and robust. A powerful live force, KOYO create sonic spectacles through soaring layers of sound. They fill and transform space, create darkness and colour. Songs become extended improvisations, spontaneous expressions of emotion. On their debut album recorded at Foel Studio in Wales (Hawkwind, MBV, The Pop Group) tracks such as powerhouse opener Strangebird, debut single Tetrachromat (an 8 minute genre defying epic), Jouska, Lost In The Kingdom and What is Mine (part acoustic ballad and aural snapshot of Wales) are prime products of these influences. But stamped through with the group's own very distinct personality. Press Quotes - 'The possible missing link between '70s-era Pink Floyd and My Bloody Valentine' Mark Blake (MOJO) // 'Leeds-based KOYO have unleashed a lilting, psychedelic-tinged force of a sound' Dork // 'Each of their songs is an intricate piece of stained glass. KOYO are at once delicate and robust' God Is In The TV // 'Pure escapism' Louder Than War // 'KOYO are easily one of the brightest young prospects the genre has thrown up in quite a while. Watch this space...' Jerry Ewing (Prog Magazine) // 'A Masterpiece' BBC Introducing // 'Some mighty big names are being hurled around to describe KOYO's dramatic, widescreen sound, and biggest among them is Pink Floyd' Grant Moon (Classic Rock) // A comprehensive UK tour to be announced shortly to support the album. Track listing : Strange Bird in the Sky, Jettisoned, The Beauty in Loneliness, Lost in the Kingdom, Jouska, Ray of Sunshine, What is Mine, Now I Understand, Tetrachromat (Parts 1 & 2)

I've made a journey back to the vinyl records by buying a turntable and amplifier and decided to purchase the division bell on vinyl by pink Floyd as it's one of the best albums I've ever heard..
