E per una volta, tutti i cliché suonano veri, grazie a Chris Martin che suona genuinamente come un uomo che raccoglie le ossa della sua vita e della sua anima, inventando parti uguali di ragioni per essere allegro e seriamente depresso.
Non che Parachutes sia un album deprimente; c'è troppa convinzione nelle chitarre e la speranza nelle parole di Martin per questo. Invece, è un equilibrio meravigliosamente tenero che si avvicina alla perfezione quanto tutto ciò che è venuto prima.
