„In This Light And On This Evening“ , das neue Album von Editors, stellt einen bedeutenden Fortschritt für die Band dar, nachdem das Debütalbum „ The Back Room“ und der Nummer-1-Nachfolger „ An End Has A Start“ große Erfolge feierten . Es gab viele Veränderungen im Leben von Editors, seit An End Has A Start die Band weltweit auflöste und das damals in Birmingham ansässige Quartett als eine der prominentesten Bands Großbritanniens der letzten Zeit etablierte. Bassist Russell Leech und Gitarrist Chris Urbanowicz leben mittlerweile in New York, während Sänger Tom Smith Vater geworden ist. Diese Änderungen verstärkten das Gefühl, dass In This Light And On This Evening ist der Beginn eines neuen Kapitels für Editors und die Band kam Anfang 2009 in London zu den Aufnahmesessions mit dem Produzenten Flood zusammen, mit der Entschlossenheit, ihren Sound auf völlig neues Terrain zu stoßen.
