„Holidays in Eden“ wurde ursprünglich 1991 veröffentlicht und war Marillions sechstes Studioalbum und das zweite mit Steve Hogarth als Leadsänger. Ihr vorheriges Album und das erste mit Hogarth, „Season's End“ (1989), wurde ziemlich schnell geschrieben und stützte sich auf eine große Menge an Material, das bereits vor Hogarths Ankunft geschrieben wurde. „Holidays in Eden“ stellte die neue Besetzung der Band vor eine andere Herausforderung, da sie mit dieser neuen Dynamik, über die sie im Buch und in der Dokumentation der 3CD/Blu-ray-Deluxe-Edition ausführlich sprechen, bei Null anfangen musste.
