Frontmann Koisser befasst sich in „Perfect Skin“ mit den Themen Image, Angst und Selbsthass, Themen, die eine innere Zerbrechlichkeit und Verletzlichkeit hervorheben. An anderer Stelle knurrt die bombastische, basslastige Single „Lost on Me“, die eine andere Seite der Band zeigt.
Zerbrechlichere, ruhigere Momente tauchen in Titeln wie „Someday“ auf, einem ruhigen, schönen und bewegenden Trennungslied, das auf Koissers eigenen Lebenserfahrungen basiert, und dem traurigeren, reduzierten „Under the Moon“, einem nostalgischen Liebeslied zum Thema Einsamkeit.
Das Album wurde größtenteils von Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Bombay Bicycle Club) produziert, der auch In Love produzierte .
